RECIPE: SUPER EASY CHIA JAM

Like a little bit of sweetness but want to reduce the amount of sugar in your diet? Try out this super easy chia jam which can be whipped up in minutes. I’ve included amounts to include to make a small pot but honestly it is difficult go get the ingredient amounts wrong. Play around with the recipe to include more or less fruits/chia seeds till you get to the right consistency. You can go from more of a compote to a proper jam that you can spread. Also feel free to experiment with lots of different fruits. Dark berries work well because the chia seeds are dark so visually it looks better but if you don’t mind that try lighter coloured fruits such as peaches, apricots or apples.

Chia jam

Ingredients: This will make a small pot as above

  • A handful of frozen or fresh mixed berries - I used frozen

  • A little bit of water

  • Chia seeds - about a teaspoon

  • Optional - a natural sweetener like honey or pure maple syrup

Method:

  • Add the berries to a saucepan

  • Add a little bit of water so they don’t burn or stick to the pan

  • Keep stirring on a medium heat until it gets to a consistency that you want - even if it still a little bit liquid a little while in the fridge will help solidify it

  • Add a little bit of sweetener if required
